A National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence
Engineering is Elementary
As part of STEAM instruction, PS 98 is employing a program out of the Boston Museum of Science called Engineering is Elementary. The Engineering is Elementary (EiE) project aims to foster engineering and technological literacy among children. EiE has created a research-based, standards-driven, and classroom-tested curriculum that integrates engineering and technology concepts and skills with elementary science topics. EiE lessons not only promote K-12 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning, but also connect with literacy and social studies. For more information please visit:
Wetlands Project
PS 98 is excited to share our partnership with environmental leaders as we restore the wetlands in our community. This community-focused endeavor will allow our students to explore the living laboratory that exists in Douglaston’s wetlands. Students will experience ecosystems first hand, and have the opportunity to strengthen core skills in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics through creatively designed, common-core aligned lessons. Students will also exercise their civic duties by taking part in the restoration of the wetlands.
