passport to social studies

P. S. 98 utilizes the Passport to Social Studies Program and follows NYC K-8 Social Studies Scope and Sequence. In Social Studies, students use rich content, unifying themes and big ideas to learn history, geography, economics, civics, citizenship and government. Teachers incorporate literacy in social studies classes to help their students ground reading, writing, and discussion in evidence from text utilizing Passport to Social Studies. Students also learn about Civics for All and participate in Take Action Projects and Soapbox Challenges.

PS 98 has a joint program with Douglaston-Little Neck Historical Society. This program includes a walking tour of parts of Douglas Manor and the Extension, and then a hands-on workshop where students would create architectural drawing and construction of models based on the houses they viewed.
