UPDATED Family Letter form School Chancellor - Important Update on In-Person Learning Start Dates

Dear PS 98 Families:

 

There has been an update from the Chancellor's Office regarding the Blended Opt-in Window.  The process outlined below will be the only opt-in window for families this school year, through the last day of the 2020-2021 school year. They believe that this best meets the needs of students, families, teachers, and school leaders to establish strong routines and structures for learning. As such, the process for blended learning opt-in is as follows:  

 

Monday, November 2 – Sunday, November 15: Blended Learning Opt-In Window for Families 

    • Families requesting to change from 100% remote to blended learning should complete and submit the Learning Preference survey during this window.  

    • Schools will be able to review individual students’ updated learning preference on a rolling basis during this window.  

    • During this time, Superintendents, Executive Superintendents and Central DOE will begin supporting schools to ensure as many students as possible are accommodated for blended learning. 

 

Weeks of November 30 & December 7:  Students Begin In-Person Learning

NEW Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

UPDATED Arrival Procedure Effective 10/27/2020

Since students are now comfortable knowing where their classrooms they will not line up in the yard and wait for their teachers. Instead, they will walk directly into the gym and go directly to their classrooms after picking up their breakfast and lunch.    

Grades 2-5 will walk directly to their classrooms with staff members supervising the hallway and stairway.  Grade 1 will line up with their teachers in the gym and their teachers will walk them to their classrooms.  PK and K arrivals will be the same.  Dismissal will be the same.

How to Access Google Classroom

Please follow the instructions below to access Google Classroom using your child's login information provided by the school.

Where to start:

  1. Go to the Google Sign in page (make sure you sign out of any other personal gmail accounts)

  2. Enter your child's Google account username (these will be provided by the teacher/school)

  3. All students will have an initial default password​ which is 12345678

  4. After the first log in, you will be prompted to create a new password (must be at least 8 characters long)

  5. Click Sign In

  6. If the username and password entered are correct, you will be signed into the remote learning portal successfully

  7. Click on the Google Classroom icon located in the waffle icon/app tiles on the top right corner

  8. Now you are in Google Classroom!

Get a summary of your child's activity in Google Classroom (great way to keep track of assignments, due dates and  missed homework )
